The Memorial Foundation scholarship award is a merit based scholarship award that seeks to recognize Kootenai County’s best and brightest scholars which recognizes promising academic achievement. This year’s scholarship awards went to 9 students with a total of $10,000 dollars.

The Memorial Foundation Scholarship Award is a merit based scholarship and the single most important factor is academic achievement. Only children and step-children of qualifying first responders are eligible to apply. Applicants must be a graduating Kootenai County senior. Kootenai County Police & Fire Memorial Foundation will support a promising young scholar with a $5,000 scholarship.


The selection committee also considers many other criteria, including personal character, extracurricular accomplishments, and potential for success. In order to be considered for the scholarship send all application materials and two letters of recommendation (one must be from a teacher or counselor, and neither by a relative) to Kootenai County Police & Fire Memorial Foundation, PO BOX 1748, Hayden, Id. 83835. The deadline is April 1st, 2019.

We are please to announce and celebrate the recipients of the Kootenai County Police & Fire Memorial Foundation Scholarship & Award.

Jacob Hagar

Sidney Peterson from Post Falls High School and daughter of a Kootenai County Deputy Sheriff receives a $1,500 scholarship and will be attending University of Idaho.

Cassidy Kerzman is also from Post Falls High School and a daughter of an Idaho State Parole Officer receives a $2,500 scholarship and will be attending Finlandia University in Hancock, Michigan.

Jacob Hagar of Coeur D’Alene High School and son of Coeur d'Alene police officer receives a $1,000 scholarship and will be attending North Idaho College.

The Kootenai County Police & Fire Memorial Foundation seeks to recognize and encourage the county’s best, brightest and most promising academics and seeks to further the academic enrichment of students who are children and step-children of local first responders from Coeur d’Alene Police Department, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, and Post Falls Police Department.

Congratulations to Jax Dunham, Jared White, Samantha Miller and Jensyn Harman who are recipients of the 2017 Memorial Foundation Scholarship awards. This year’s record breaking awards totaled $7,500 and represent achievements from Kootenai County’s best, brightest and most promising academics. The awards were earned by children and step-children of local first responders from Coeur d’Alene Police Department, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, and Post Falls Police Department. Awards will be used toward extending student’s academic careers beyond high school at the college and university level.

Zachery Holbrook, Awarded $5,000 Scholarship

Zachery Holbrook, Lake City High School, son of Coeur d'Alene Fire Department firefighter, receives $5,000 scholarship from Kootenai County Police Fire Memorial Foundation! He will be attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)! Way to go Zach! Congrats.
